A method of adjusting vacuum levels in a vacuum system of a printing device including generating a diagnostic plot on media; the diagnostic plot including a cockle pattern, a main media advance pattern, and a secondary media advance pattern, and accepting adjustments to printing parameters on the printing device based on printing defects displayed on the diagnostic plot.
