A processor is coupled to a transceiver and includes at least a first processor logic unit for initiating a cell selection or a cell reselection procedure to camp on a target cell and obtain a plurality of paging parameters carried in one or more system information messages transmitted by the target cell via the transceiver and a second processor logic unit for monitoring a paging identifier on a downlink control channel via the transceiver to check whether there is any forthcoming paging message before the paging parameters are obtained from the target cell.
