The apparatus includes: a detection unit configured to detect whether a call signal is being received from the telephone public circuit network; an acceptance unit configured to accept, when the detection unit detects that the call signal is being received, an instruction from a user to perform line capture for the call signal; and a control unit configured to control, when the acceptance unit accepts the instruction to perform line capture, the apparatus to perform line capture. When the acceptance unit accepts the instruction to perform line capture, the control unit controls the apparatus not to perform line capture during a call signal-on interval of the call signal.
