A phase change ink composition including a pigment; a carrier; a dispersant; and a synergist, (a) wherein, for a given sample of the synergist, about 80 to about 100 percent of the sample has a volume average particle diameter of about 50 to about 200 nanometers; (b) wherein the synergist has a surface area of about 30 to about 100 m2/gram; and (c) wherein the synergist has a density of above about 0.6 to about 2 grams/cm3.
