The surface free energy of the stimulus-responsive polymer may be reversibly adjustable from a first surface free energy state to a second surface free energy state when heated to a predetermined critical activation temperature. A method of preparing a polymer composition comprises dispersing a stimulus-responsive polymer in a base polymer matrix. A method of printing an image to a substrate comprises applying an aqueous inkjet ink onto an intermediate transfer member using an inkjet printhead, spreading the ink onto the intermediate transfer member, inducing a property change of the ink, and transferring the ink to a substrate, where the intermediate transfer member contains a stimulus-responsive polymer dispersed in a polymer matrix.
