The protection circuit include reverse polarity protection circuit coupled to the power source output that electrically isolates the power source output from the field device circuitry in response to a reverse polarity connection between the power source output and the field device circuitry. An overvoltage protection circuit disconnects the power source output from the field device circuitry is a voltage of the power source output exceeds a threshold.
