In one aspect, a device configured to communicate a voice and data communication via a wireless communication link is provided. The device includes a receiver configured to receive information selection criteria associated with a power limited condition. The device further includes a processor configured to detect the power limited condition. The processor is further configured to select information for transmission on a data channel, independent of the received information selection criteria.
