According to one embodiment, a method for determining a name associated with an incoming phone call includes receiving an incoming phone call on a mobile phone device, determining a phone number from which the incoming phone call originated, outputting the originating phone number on the mobile phone device, accessing a remote site for determining a name associated with the originating phone number, and outputting the name associated with the originating phone number on the mobile phone device. In another embodiment, a method includes receiving a phone number from a mobile phone device at least in part via a wireless link, determining a name associated with the phone number, and sending the name associated with the phone number to the mobile phone device at least in part via a wireless link.
