The method includes obtaining a message from an external electronic device using a short range communication, identifying first device identification corresponding to the external electronic device based at least in part on the message, and determining whether the first device identification corresponds to second device identification stored at the electronic device. The method also includes selecting content associated with a location corresponding to the external electronic device based at least in part on a determination that the first device identification corresponds to the second device identification, and performing, at the electronic device, a function related to at least one portion of the content.
