A monitor stand assembly includes a base, an arm that includes a monitor joint configured for pivotable attachment to a monitor and a base joint configured for pivotable attachment to the base, and an adjustable force strut. Such a strut may include a strut housing, a strut rod, an adjustment mechanism for adjusting force exerted by the rod with respect to the housing, an arm joint configured for pivotable attachment to the arm and a base joint configured for pivotable attachment to the base.
