In some embodiments, an exhaust gas purifying apparatus can comprise a honeycomb catalyst member carrying metallic catalyst, wherein the member can be contained in a cylindrical container via a cushion member. The catalyst structural member can be formed of a sheet-like catalyst structure and can be manufactured by a wet paper-making method. The structural member can be secured to the cushion member by press-fitting the structural member into the cushion member.
