A bag stand includes at least two side panels, each side panel having a top end, a bottom end, and two adjacent side ends, each side panel connected to at least one adjacent side panel, the side panels forming the bag stand having a top end and a bottom end, the bag stand defining a top opening, a bottom opening, and an interior, the top opening sized to accept a refuse bag; and at least one connection mechanism included on each of at least two side panels for connecting to at least one adjacent side panel.
