The flushing chamber is selectively openable along its length to an open position, in which the distal end portion of the medical instrument is insertable into the flushing chamber, and selectively closable along its length to a closed position, in which the distal end portion of the medical instrument is enclosed and fluidly sealed within the flushing chamber.
