The LCD apparatus includes a first substrate and a second substrate, each including a display area and a non-display area, a sealant disposed between the non-display area of the first substrate and the non-display area of the second substrate, and a first contact area and a light shielding pattern that are disposed in the non-display area of the first substrate. The light shielding pattern is disposed on one outermost side of the first substrate, the first contact area is disposed between the light shielding pattern and the display area, and the sealant contacts the first substrate in the first contact area.
