The image processing method includes receiving an instruction to process an input image, determining at least one image processing unit to be used to execute the instruction based on a state of an electronic device, dividing the input image and distributing the divided input image to the determined at least one image processing unit, and processing the divided image using the at least one image processing unit and combining the processed divided image.
