The invention relates to a process for producing graphite particles to be used widely as highly functional graphite material, which comprises applying ultrasonic waves to a liquid containing dispersed therein expanded graphite particles to thereby produce fine flaky graphite particles with a high aspect ratio and well-developed anisotropy without forming secondary particles. Moldings of the obtained graphite particles show high electric and thermal conductivities.
