A process is disclosed for filling containers with a certain volume of liquid. When an inlet valve (6) is opened, the liquid flows into a volumetric dosing chamber (23), and when an upper switching level (50) is reached the inlet valve (6) is closed. When the outlet valve (7) is opened the liquid flows out of the dosing chamber into a container (1) and when a lower switching level (50) is reached the outlet valve (7) is closed. The top filling level (HO) actually reached after the inlet valve is closed and the bottom filling level (HU) actually reached after the outlet valve is closed are measured. The upper and lower switching levels are corrected by the thus measured values, so that the desired volume of liquid may be accurately respected independently from pressure and flow conditions.
