A control system particularly for use with pipeline plugs and other arrangements which are remotely controlled, and which require to be retrievable in the event of a failure, the pipeline plug including an anchoring/sealing means, the control system including a valve means, preferably a normally-open valve, which allows the anchoring/sealing means to be externally unset in the event of a failure.
