Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for creating undercuts (9) or such like on tooth flanks (10) of internally or externally geared gear blanks (3) by chip-removing machining using a cutting tool (8) which rotates about a tool axis which is parallel to the gear-blank axis and the shape of whose cutting edge corresponds to the shape of the undercut. For a highly efficient creation of undercuts the invention provides for a gear-tooth shaped tool (8) whose teeth (14) form the cutting edges (16).
