Abstract:
The invention relates to a mat that is 100 % recyclable and made from a single polymer that is laminated onto a secondary substrate by means of thermofusion based on infrared units and using fibers with low denier per filament as mechanical anchoring means. Said fibers are recycled or out of specification and consist of the same polymer or resin used for the top surface and primary base of the rug, do not necessarily have a different molecular weight or a different fusion point and have the shape of a layer or cloth. Said fibers are applied by simple overlaying and knotting when inserting the threads into the tufting process of the rug or non-woven. Secondary layers made from the same polymer or resin used for the other components already integrated into the rug are laminated onto said rug or non-woven, all components having a common denominator of thermoplastic resin which makes them 100 % recyclable without having to use any other polymer selection process such as precipitation or otherwise. To obtain the recyclable mat product, the top and bottom surface of the mat are protected during production by wetting and cooling using sprinklers, water-circulating tools and cold air application chambers.
