A vehicle having a shield (100) assembly for use with an exterior vehicle panel (10) is provided. The shield assembly (100) is a deformable substrate. The deformable substrate has a surface (104) and a periphery (108). The surface (104) of the deformable substrate forms to the exterior vehicle panel (10) to absorb energy transmitted through the exterior vehicle panel (10).
