Invention Application

MAT, AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING SAID MAT
Abstract:
The invention relates to mats, especially mats for use as grass mats, slope mats, erosion control mats, geotextile mats with and without seeds, ballast bed grass mats, road verge grass mats, roof grass mats, mulch mats, mattresses and mattress covers, cow mattresses, insulating jackets (heat, cold, noise), packaging mats, piglet mats, filter mats, especially filter mats for bordering and fringing drainage pipes, air cooler mats (for condenser air-conditioning, fiber material: excelsior that is wetted with water for use), screening mats, etc. It is already known to produce stitched mats, their major drawback however is that for certain applications, for example when establishing green spaces on roofs, meshed wovens or unwovens are required, thereby rendering the entire mat very expensive. Even if the meshed woven consists of a biodegradable plastic there is often a requirement for mats in which no plastic whatsoever is included. The aim of the invention is therefore to provide an improved mat that does not have the above-mentioned drawbacks. This aim is achieved by the mat according to claim 1 of the invention. Advantageous embodiments are described in the subclaims. The inventive mat comprises at least one layer of a fiber material, especially a synthetic and/or natural fiber material. The layer is stitched in itself and a plurality of seams is arranged side by side to stabilize the mat. Every seam is formed by at least one thread and the threads of one seam are interlaced with the threads of the left and/or right neighboring seam, a chain stitch being used for establishing the seam.
