The invention relates to a refrigerator and/or freezer comprising a cooling container including an interior container with a cooling compartment, and an evaporator. The invention also relates to a method for assembling a refrigerator and/or freezer, whereby an evaporator and at least one additional electrical and/or frigorific functional component is inserted into an interior container of the refrigerator and/or freezer and is fastened to a wall of the interior container. The invention eliminates the need for assembling the various electrical and frigorific components individually, one after the other, in the various locations of the interior container of the appliance and to connect them individually to the electronic system on the outside of the appliance. For this purpose, at least the evaporator, the evaporator/cooler and the cooling compartment sensor are preassembled on a common mounting plate. Said mounting plate can be inserted into and installed in the interior container together with the preassembled components. Preassembly of the components on the mounting plate can be carried out in a favorable assembly position.
