The processing inhibits interaction (110, 142) between a displayed avatar associated with the user input data and a displayed avatar associated with the received interactive game data. A network interface is included to transmit user input data from the controller (55) associated with the terminal (50) but operable in a non-interactive mode to inhibit such transmission.
