A lawnmower having a housing (1) and a grass box (2), the housing (1) supporting the grass box (2), the lawnmower further comprising an lid (8) mounted on the housing (2) and having a closed position and an open position, the lid (8) overlying the grass box (2) in the closed position, in which the grass box (2) is removable from the housing (1) by lifting it off the housing, and the action of lifting the grass box (2) off the housing (1) causes the lid to move from the closed position to the open position. The grass box (2) may be transparent or translucent for viewing the grass level inside therethrough.
