The invention relates to a method 10 for jointing two insulated power cable ends, each cable 1 comprising a conductor 2 and an insulation system 3, 4, 5. The method 10 comprises the step of jointing 11 conductors of each respective cable end providing a joint conductor 2, and is characterized by the steps of : - applying 17 an insulation layer 4 on the joint conductor 2 so as to provide said insulation layer 4 with a surface having desired electrical properties; - applying 15 a semiconducting material on the insulation layer 4, the semiconducting material constituting an outer semiconducting layer 5; and vulcanizing 16 the insulation layer 4 and the outer semiconducting layer 5 in a single process.
