Abstract:
Ball valve having retention of a seat insert (64, 118) within a seat ring (46). The seat insert (64, 118) is an annular ring having a tapered section (86, 138) on an outer wall (82, 84, 134, 136). The tapered section (86, 138) mates with a shoulder (76, 126) in an outer surface of a profiled groove (68, 116) of the seat ring (46). The seat insert (64, 118) snaps into the profiled groove (68, 116) with the shoulder (76, 126), thereby preventing axial movement of the seat insert (64, 118) with respect to the profiled groove (68, 116) of the seat ring (46). A locking ring (70, 120) fits within the profiled groove (68, 116) of the seat ring (46) to prevent axial and radial movement of the seat insert (64, 118) with respect to the profiled groove (68, 116) of the seat ring (46).
