Abstract:
Reference lighting data is based on a reference lighting setup from a studio environment, such as a color-grading studio. The reference lighting data is synchronized with video content being processed at the studio. The reference lighting data is available at a viewer location, for example, through concurrent transmission or stored on a disk. The viewer location uses cameras to capture illumination data that is compared to the reference lighting data and a control signal is generated to control lighting at the viewer location. The control signal is synchronized with the video because the reference lighting data is synchronized with the video. In one embodiment, the reference lighting data is also synchronized with events of a game, so that a user playing games in a gaming environment will have his lighting synchronized with video and events of the game. In another embodiment, the reference lighting data is embedded on a disk.
