The invention relates to an arrangement for mounting solar panels on a roof of a building, the arrangement comprising mounting rails for the solar panels and roof mounts (2) for mounting the mounting rails in place. The roof mount (2) comprises a base part (5a) to rest against the surface of the roof and a supporting part (5b) projecting upwards from the surface of the roof, as well as a fastening plate (6a) for fastening the mounting rail to the roof mount (2). The roof mount (2) is provided with one or more fastening structures (7, 8), in order to fasten it to different kinds of roof constructions, and is made of a metal sheet having a substantially uniform thickness so that its base part (5a) and supporting part (5b), as viewed from the end of the roof mount (2), form a monolithic structure substantially in the shape of an L-profile.
