The semantic service request originates from a first network (1') with semantic routing and the service is hosted in a second network (1") with semantic routing. A gateway device (4), a server device (7), a client device (2) and a name resolution server (6) are also provided. These devices (2, 3, 3', 4, 6, 7) realize edge-based semantic routing that allows for communicating with any Internet services, including those in other semantic routing islands, without particular client awareness.
