The invention relates to a collector for bore cuttings that are produced when a bore hole is drilled in the ground. The housing encloses a cleaning device which cleans the drill when it is withdrawn from the housing, and a dirt collection chamber. The invention relates to a fastening device (10) for detachably fastening an article on a base (14). Said device comprises a suction plate (18) on which a sealing ring (13) for resting on the base (14) is held and an electric vacuum pump (26) which impinges a space (36) between the suction plate (18) and the base (14) that can be sealed by the sealing ring (13) with negative pressure. The aim of the invention is to improve the fastening device (10) in such a manner that it can be operated independent of a line voltage and is easier to use. For this purpose, the suction plate (18) is integrated into a housing (42) which houses the vacuum pump (26), a battery (63) and an electrical switching element (64) for switching the vacuum pump on and off. The invention is furthermore characterized in that a collector for bore cuttings (110) is integrated into the housing of the fastening device (10).
