摘要： An apparatus is provided for introducing at least one optical fibre member (6) into a tubular passageway. The apparatus comprises a pressure vessel (1) for receiving the optical fibre member (6), the vessel (1) either containing compressed air or other gas or being provided with an inlet (2) by means of which compressed gas can be introduced. The vessel is connected to the passageway via a fibre-introducing device, e.g. a venturi (11) or a mechanical device, which creates slack in the optical fibre member.

摘要： An improved coil package comprises a closable carton 21 formed from a folded blank of cardboard and, removably housed in the carton, a reel on which is carried a coil 35 of wire. The hollow hub 37 formed of a transversely folded metal strip is secured to the major side walls 22 of the carton in such a way that each reel flange 34 is locked to the hub and is detachably secured to the adjacent major side wall. In each major side wall 22, a protruding end part 38 of the hub is folded to bite into the wall and is surrounded by a circle 36 of perforations to enable the adjacent reel flange to be detached from the wall.

摘要： A readily stackable coil package comprises a closed carton 1 which is formed from a folded cardboard blank and which has a pair of oppositely disposed major side walls 2 whose boundary edges 4 lie in parallel planes. Each major side wall 2 has an area 5 of weakness in axial alignment with an area of weakenss in the other major side wall. A coil of wire is housed in the closed carton 1 and, also loosely housed in the closed carton, is separately formed means 7 for forming a rigid hollow hub. When it is desired to convert the closed carton 1 into a reel, the areas 5 of weakness are removed to form apertures, the separately formed hub forming means 7 is extracted from the package and is assembled to form a rigid hollow hub extending between and secured to parts of the major side walls bounding the apertures in the major side walls.
