Die Erfindung betrifft eine Überwachungseinrichtung (6) zur Umweltüberwachung, insbesondere zur Umweltüberwachung von radioaktiver Strahlung, mit mindestens einem Empfänger zum Empfangen von Messwerten einer potentiell gesundheitsgefährdenden Umweltgröße, sowie mit einer Recheneinheit (10) zur Berechnung eines Gefahrenhinweises (4.1-4.4) in Abhängigkeit von den Messwerten. Es wird vorgeschlagen, dass der Empfänger ausgelegt ist für den Empfang der Messwerte von einer Vielzahl von räumlich verteilt angeordneten elektronischen Endgeräten (2.1-2.4), insbesondere von Mobiltelefonen mit einem Bildsensor zur Messung der radioaktiven Strahlung. The inventors propose an arrangement in which the radiation beam (6) passes the radiation mask (7) only once between the radiation source (2) and the radiation detector (3).
