Method and installation for calcining cement raw meal in a calciner (10) whereby fuel and a calciner oxidant having an oxygen content of at least 30% vol are introduced into the calciner (10) so as to generate either an oxidant-lean zone or a fuel-lean zone in the calciner located between the lowermost fuel inlet level (L13) and the lowermost oxidant inlet level (L16) of the calciner (10), between 50% and 100% by weight of the raw meal (14, 15) being supplied to the calciner (10) upstream of and/or within the oxidant-lean, respectively the fuel-lean zone.

Method of heating a mineral feedstock in a firing furnace of the tunnel furnace type, having a hearth with an upstream inlet, a downstream outlet and sidewalls fitted with burners, in which method the feedstock is transported as a layer of approximately constant thickness along a treatment path in which the feedstock is heated and fired by means of said burners so as to obtain a fired product, said path being located between the upstream inlet and the downstream outlet of the furnace, characterized in that said burners comprise at least one fuel injector and at least one oxidizer injector and are positioned and oriented in such a way that their flames do not impact the layer, the at least one oxidizer injector being positioned relative to the at least one fuel injector so that the at least one fuel jet injected by the at least one fuel injector is separated from the layer by at least one oxidizer jet injected by at least one oxidizer injector.

Burner for conveyor gas propelled particulate solid fuel, said burner comprising a burner block (100) and an injector assembly (200), the injector assembly being at least partially surrounded by an injector passage (130) of the burner block, the injector assembly comprising an inner oxygen supply pipe (210) surrounding a fuel injector, which in turn surrounds an oxygen injector (230), each having a downstream end (211, 221, 231) on the side of the passage outlet, the inner oxygen supply pipe having a lateral surface onto which are mounted a set of lateral primary oxygen nozzles (212) for the injection of lateral jets of primary oxygen into the fuel injector with an injection orientation which follows a same sense of rotation around the longitudinal direction and which is directed towards the downstream end of the fuel injector, said lateral primary oxygen nozzles being positioned at a number of different distances from the downstream end (221) of the fuel injector.

A method of combining oxygen and fuel in a burner to produce a flame whereby an outer oxidant flow is discharged through an outer oxidant outlet of the burner; a flow of conveyor-gas propelled particulate solid fuel is discharged with a fuel discharge velocity through a fuel outlet of the burner arranged coaxially with respect to the outer oxidant outlet and spaced radially inwardly therefrom; and a first inner oxidant flow is discharged with an inner oxidant discharge velocity, which differs from the fuel discharge velocity, through an inner oxidant end outlet of the burner arranged coaxially with respect to said fuel outlet and spaced radially inwardly therefrom; and whereby a second inner oxidant flow, having a higher oxygen concentration than the conveyor gas is injected into the fuel-conducting passage and mixed with the fuel flow inside said fuel-conducting passage so as to obtain, upstream of the fuel outlet and upstream of the inner oxidant end outlet, an oxygen-enriched conveyor-gas propelled particulate solid fuel flow having an oxygen content of at least 21%vol O 2 .
