The present invention discloses a colour pattern manufacturing method comprising forming a conductive film (2) having an arbitrary pattern fig 1(h) on a substrate (1), forming a coloured layer (3) on the conductive film (2) by electrodeposition, and forming a metal film (5) having a further arbitrary pattern fig 1(i) on the coloured layer (3) to shield undesirable light being transmitted through the arbitrary pattern of the coloured layer (3). Thus a colour filter having high quality characteristics can be made by a remarkably simple process yet allowing the metal film to be formed into a lattice shape.
