A method for gas purification wherein a mixed gas containing a rare gas and nitrogen as main components and hydrogen, a reaction product comprising nitrogen and hydrogen and steam as trace components is freed of the trace components, which comprises an adsorbing step of removing the reaction product comprising nitrogen and hydrogen and steam, a hydrogen oxidation step of converting hydrogen to steam by a catalytic hydrogen oxidizing reaction in the presence of oxygen, and then a drying step of removing the steam formed in the hydrogen oxidation step. When the mixed gas further contains a nitrogen oxide, a denitration step of converting the nitrogen oxide to nitrogen and steam in the presence of a reducing substance is carried out prior to the above adsorption step.

The invention provides a gas separation method and a device wherein in separating the gas components from a source gas containing a plurality of components, each gas component can be efficiently recovered and product gas can be gathered with both the flow rate and the component concentration always stabilized. The method comprises the steps of using a first separation process using a first adsorption tower and a second separation process using a second adsorption tower, using a circulation source gas in the form of a source gas having mixed therein a reclaimed exhaust gas discharged in each process, as a gas to be separated, controlling the derivation flow rate of a first product gas, and keeping the derivation flow rate of a second product gas and the component concentration at constant values.

There is provided a hydrocarbon adsorbent comprising a zeolite of H-FER structure, or MOR structure having the pore diameter regulated by ion exchange. Further, there is provided a propane adsorbent comprising a zeolite of MFI structure. Still further, there is provided a hydrocarbon removing unit consisting of a TSA type pretreating purifier including an adsorption column packed with active alumina and, sequentially superimposed thereon, NaX type zeolite and the above adsorbents. Moreover, there is provided a method of reducing the content of hydrocarbons in liquid oxygen within the air liquefaction separation apparatus, comprising purifying raw air by means of the above pretreating purifier.

A purification method for feed air in cryogenic air separation of the present invention includes purifying the feed air for the cryogenic air separation by using a temperature swing adsorption method, wherein the whole region of a carbon dioxide adsorbent layer packed in an adsorption column is used as a mass transfer zone of a carbon dioxide. Also, a purification apparatus for feed air in cryogenic air separation of the present invention includes at least two adsorption columns; and a moisture adsorbent and a carbon dioxide adsorbent being laminated and packed in the adsorption columns, wherein the packed amount of the carbon dioxide adsorbent is the same as the amount of the carbon dioxide adsorbent in the region of the carbon dioxide adsorbent which a mass transfer zone of a carbon dioxide occupies at the end of an adsorption step, and a temperature swing adsorption method is used.
