摘要: The use of a turbulent contactor to absorb a selected gas component from a gas stream. The invention particularly applies to a method of absorbing a selected gas component from a gas stream which comprises: bringing the gas stream into contact with a liquid including a solvent or a reagent for the selected gas component and subjecting the gas stream and liquid to turbulent mixing conditions in an ejector, thereby causing the gas component to be absorbed by the solvent or reagent.

摘要: A method is provided for estimating the positional uncertainty in drilling a well such as an oil well. A first set of values is supplied representing a first three-dimensional uncertainty of the actual position of a drill bit with respect to the estimated position. A second set of values is supplied representing a second three-dimensional uncertainty of the actual position of a geological feature with respect to the estimated position thereof. For example, the first set of values relates to positional uncertainties because of the drilling procedure whereas the second set of uncertainties is associated with the obtaining and interpretation of seismic data. The first and second sets of values are combined to form a third set of values which represents a third uncertainty of the position of the drill bit with respect to the geological feature. A probability is then calculated from the third uncertainty and gives the probability that the drill bit will reach a predetermined position relative to the geological feature.

摘要: Arrangement for enhancing the steering effect of ship rudders (5) comprising at least one passageway for supplying seawater from a pump to ducts (11) in the rudder, and means (20) communicating with the ducts and being adapted to discharge seawater supplied through these at the rudder surface. Said means comprise a profile element (20) extending preferably vertically at the leading edge of the rudder (5) and being pivotable about a generally vertical axis to extreme positions at either side with respect to the central plane of the rudder. Moreover, there are provided distribution ducts (12A, 12B) which in association with the profile element (20) are adjustable so that the profile element by opposite pivot movement in relation to the angular deflection of the rudder causes seawater to be discharged (12X) along the rudder surface (5B) facing abaft at said angular deflection.
