摘要： An apparatus for effecting direct contact between a gas and a liquid which comprises at least one substantially vertical channel, formed for example, by a pair of parallel plates. means for introducing gas at a lower part of the channel. means for introducing liquid to the channel, and means for removing gas and liquid at an upper part of the channel, the height of the channel being substantially greater than the distance between the walls thereof which define the channel, e.g. between the parallel plates, such that gas at elevated pressure, when introduced into the channel, can cause liquid to move upwardly in the channel and to be removed from the channel. The apparatus may be associated with an electrolytic cell in which a gas is produced by electrolysis. Also a process for effecting direct contact between a gas and a liqud.

摘要： Apparatus and process for the vaporization of a heavy hydrocarbon feedstock with steam. The apparatus comprises a first tubular element (2) and a second tubular element (3) surrounding the first tubular element (2) to form an annular space (8), means (4) for introducing a heavy hydrocarbon feedstock into the first tubular element (2), means (7) for introducing superheated steam into the annular space (8), the first and second tubular elements (2, 3) being provided with open ends for the supply of the superheated steam as an annulus around a core of the heavy hydrocarbon feedstock, a frusto-conically shaped element (10) connected to the open end of the second tubular element (3). To avoid coke formation in the apparatus the frusto-conically shaped element (10) diverges in a direction away from the second tubular element (3) and has an apex angle of at most 20 degrees.

摘要： The presterilization of packaging machines for the manufacture of aseptic packing containers can be carried out with the help of sterile air and liquid sterilizing agent, which are blended so that a gas saturated with sterilizing agent of a suitable temperature and dew point is obtained. In order to achieve a rapid and effective volatilization of the liquid a circulating movement is imparted to the hot sterile air at the same time as the sterile liquid is introduced into the centre of the circulating movement. An arrangement for the realization of this comprises a chamber (1) with a helical guide rail (6) and a spray nozzle (7) for the sterilizing liquid.

摘要： Sludge floating on the surface of liquid protrudes upwardly through a stabilisation grid and is removed by scraping means into a gutter. In order to prevent the scraping means pushing the sludge back downwardly through the grid, the scraping means is provided with a knife which is driven in a forward movement towards the gutter and a return movement away from the gutter. In the forward movement the knife is tilted downwardly towards its free edge so as to cut the sludge and push it into the gutter. During the return move-ment, the free edge is raised above the grid.
