The invention relates to a desk container, in particular for use in a house desk. Such containers comprise limiting walls which are connected to each other by means of border edges (14, 20a, b, c) and form a bottom and/or lateral walls. The aim of said invention is to develop a desk container which is compactly packed and designable in different forms. For this purpose, an inventive modular system consisting of a plurality of basic elements (10, 12, 22) is used. Said basic elements are connectable end-to-end or at a distance to each other by means of connecting elements (30, 32) at the level of border edges (28) with a separation gap (36) in such a way that containers of different geometric shape are formed.

A layered assembly is provided including a base layer and a top layer. A pouch area is located between the base layer and the top layer and is created by affixing the base layer to the top layer. An opening is provided within a perimeter of the base layer to provide access to the pouch area through the base layer. An item can be loaded into the pouch area. Once the layered assembly is affixed to a substrate, the opening of the base layer is sealed off from access. A peel-away portion is located within a perimeter of the top layer such that removal of a portion of the top layer along the peel-away portion provides access to the pouch area through the top layer. Removal of the peel-away portion reveals the item that is secured within the layered assembly.

A file substrate of paper stock such as a file backer or file folder having a reinforced edge portion is disclosed. Such file substrate has at least one straight edge with a tear resistant plastic film secured either side of the substrate and about the straight edge. This film reinforces the substrate straight edge without significantly increasing the thickness thereof. A coloured adhesive may be used for securing a clear reinforcing film to the folder. This provides a colour band down a side of the folder to distinguish a group of files in a file system. Method and apparatus are disclosed for applying the reinforcing film to file folder blanks.
