    摘要: An optical system (20) includes a conduit fitting (48), a first connector (46A), a first conduit (22A), a first ferrule (50A) and a first nut (54A). The conduit fitting (48) includes a receptacle (102), in which the first connector (46A) is disposed. The first connector includes a first bore, a first counterbore and a first port (88) radially outboard of the first bore. The first conduit (22A) includes a first optics line (28A) and a first fluid passage (44A) and projects longitudinally into the first counterbore and is attached to the first connector (46A). The first optics line (28A) projects longitudinally into the first bore. The first fluid passage (44A) is fluidly coupled with the first port (88). The first ferrule (50A) circumscribes the first connector (46A). The first nut (54A) is threaded onto the conduit fitting (48) and is configured to wedge the first ferrule (50A) radially between the first connector (46A) and the conduit fitting (48).

    摘要: An assembly is provided for a turbine engine. This assembly includes a stationary structure (34, 36, 198), a rotating structure (202), a magnetic-foil bearing (60) and a cooling system (222). The rotating structure (202) is rotatable about an axis (22, 78). The magnetic-foil bearing (60) radially supports the rotating structure (202) within the stationary structure (34, 36, 198). The magnetic-foil bearing (60) includes a magnetic bearing stator (68), a magnetic bearing rotor (72) and a foil bearing (70). The foil bearing (70) is disposed radially between the magnetic bearing stator (68) and the magnetic bearing rotor (72). The cooling system (222) includes a cooling circuit (226) configured to deliver cooling air to at least a first bearing component (68; 70; 72). The first bearing component (68; 70; 72) is configured as or otherwise includes one of the magnetic bearing stator (68), the magnetic bearing rotor (72) and the foil bearing (70).

    摘要: A turbine component (200) includes a first structure (210) and a second structure (212). A first fluid passage (220) is defined in the first structure (210) for delivering a first thermal transfer fluid (222), e.g., a coolant such as air, through at least a portion of the first structure (210) to cool the first structure (210). A second fluid passage (230) is defined within at least a portion of the second structure (212) and is in fluid communication with the first fluid passage (220). After heat transfer in the first structure (210), the heat transfer fluid is hotter than a temperature of the second structure (212), and thus increases the temperature of the second structure (212). The heat transfer to the second structure (212) reduces a temperature difference between the second structure (212) and the first structure (210) that would, without heating, cause thermal stress between the structures (210, 212). The heating of the second structure (212) reduces the need for early maintenance and lengthens the lifespan of the component (200).
