摘要： An alternator system has two pairs of diodes 21 and 22, and 23 and 24 connected between respective outputs 11 and 12 of an alternator 1 and respective outputs 4 and 5 of the system, the diodes being connected in opposite senses. A switch 32 and 34 is connected in shunt across each of the diodes connected to the zero volts output 5 of the system. The switches 32 and 34 are controlled by a control unit 3, which receives a sample of the signal appearing at the other output. The output voltage of the system is reduced by closing the switches 32 and 34 in phase with the output voltage while current is being supplied to the positive output 4 of the system. The output voltage is increased by closing the switches 32 and 34 while current is not being supplied to the positive output 4 and opening the switches 32 and 34 after current starts to be supplied to the positive output so that energy stored in the alternator 1 is transferred to the system output.

摘要： An hydraulic lift system has an actuator 2 connected to an hydraulic circuit, having a pump 31, via a supply line 20. A balanced seated valve 50 is connected between the supply line 20 and a reservoir 33, the valve being controlled by a solenoid 51 and an electric drive unit 40. The drive unit 40 supplies a gradually increasing or decreasing voltage to the solenoid 51 to open or close the valve 50 gradually. The valve has a valve member 170 that is displaceable along its length and has a valve head 174 of frusto-conical shape. A passage 176 along the valve member 170 balances fluid pressure across the valve member. The solenoid 51 has an armature 160 with a pole face 161 that can be displaced towards a fixed pole face 167 to unseat the valve member 170. The pole faces 161 and 167 have complementary frusto-conical surfaces 163 and there is a non-magnetic washer 168 between them.

A platform 4 at the top of the pedestal 3 has a lateral hinge 7 and two hydraulically-operated locks 11 and 12 located at the hinge, which engage with the table top. The table top 10 carries four secondary locks 31 to 34 that are operated by actuators 70 to 73 in the platform 4 to cause the locks to engage or disengage the transporter 40. Lock sensors 19, 20, 75 and 76 cause the platform 4 to move when they detect incomplete engagement of the locks 11, 12, 31 to 34.

摘要： An analogue-to-digital conversion system with multiple inputs 2 to 9 has a multiplexer 1 that provides sequential output samples of the inputs via an amplifier 19 to an analogue-to digital converter 20. A multiplier 18 between the multiplexer 1 and the amplifier 19 spectrally shifts the signals in one sense. A second multiplier 28 at the output of the converter 20 spectrally shifts the signals in the opposite sense to substantially their original spectral content. The second multiplier 28 also spectrally shifts any noise produced by the amplifier 19. A digital filter 30 attenuates the noise more than the signal and supplies the different outputs to respective registers 32 to 39. One of the inputs is at a zero level and the equivalent output is subtracted from the other outputs, further reducing noise.

A digitizer (43) converts the radar return signals to multi-bit signals which are supplied to a memory (50) with signals for alternate pixels stored in different halves of the memory (51 and 52). The apparatus reads out signals from one half of the memory (51) during one scan and reads out signals from the other half (52) of the memory (50) during the next scan so that they are interleaved with the pixels on the display brightened by the first scan.
