摘要:
Various embodiments of the present invention provide a conduit device including an attaching device configured for defining a helical pathway through a tissue wall for securing the device within an aperture defined in the tissue wall. Some embodiments of the present invention further provide a system for implanting a conduit device in a tissue wall. More specifically, some embodiments provide a system including a coring device for defining an aperture in a tissue by removing and retaining a tissue core and securely implanting a conduit device therein so as to provide fluid communication between a first and second surface of the tissue wall via the conduit device.

A tool for coring a hole in a portion of a patient's body. A cylindrical sheath includes a hollow bore open at both ends. A shaft is axially movable back and forth within the bore. A blade assembly is attached to one end of the shaft. The blade assembly comprises a hollow open cup portion having a closed end and a cutting edge formed around the margin of the open end. An interface is attached to the sheath which is shaped and dimensioned to communicate with a connector used to connect a medical device to a patient's body.

A differential pressure regulating device is provided for controlling in-vivo pressure in a body, and in particular in a heart. The device may include a shunt being positioned between two or more lumens in a body, to enable fluids to flow between the lumens, and an adjustable flow regulation mechanism being configured to selectively cover an opening of the shunt, to regulate the flow of fluid through the shunt in relation to a pressure difference between the body lumens. In some embodiments a control mechanism coupled to the adjustable flow regulation may be provided, to remotely activate the adjustable flow regulation mechanism.

Disclosed here are devices (200) altering gaseous flow within a lung (118) to improve the expiration cycle of an individual, particularly individuals having Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). More particularly, devices (200) are disclosed to produce collateral openings and channels (116) through the airway wall (106) so that expired air is able to pass directly out of the lung tissue to facilitate both the exchange of oxygen ultimately into the blood and/or to decompress hyper-inflated lungs.

A plastically deformable stent (10) for implantation within a body passage includes a plurality of cylindrical segments (12), and a plurality of connectors (14) extending between adjacent segments (12). Each segment (12) has an alternating pattern of curvilinear elements (20) extending about its circumference, including first (22), and second (24) sets of curvilinear elements having different resistances to expansion, preferably defining 'U' shapes with alternating lengths that are connected to one another to define a substantially sinusoidal pattern. The connectors (14) define sinusoidal shape adapted to extend, and compress axially substantially evenly when the adjacent segments are subjected to bending. The stent (10) may be delivered on a device including an elongate member with a nose cone (2, 12), an expandable member (208), and a proximal shoulder thereon (216), and an outer sheath (220) for slide receiving the elongate member therein. The outer sheath (220), and/or nose cone (212) may have perfusion holes for allowing continued perfusion of fluid during stent delivery. The devicve may be used in a method for implanting a stent within a curved region of a body passage, particularly for creating, and/or maintaining a channel connecting vein to an adjacent artery, preferably in the coronary system.

摘要:
A method and system of performing an intravascular procedure at a treatment site in a vessel of a patient. A device creates a seal to prevent the flow of blood during the treatment of vascular disease. A seal may be formed between the distal inside diameter of a sheath or catheter such as a guide catheter as well as within a vessel, such as an artery or vein. An elongated device having a distal portion extending from the catheter and having a fluid impermeable membrane disposed about at least the distal end of the device is used to seal the vessel. The system includes a device to occlude blood flow and a distal protection device to filter or remove embolic debris.

Left ventricular conduits and related methods are disclosed for achieving bypass of a partially or completely occluded coronary artery. More broadly, conduits for allowing communication of bodily fluids from one portion of a patient's body to another and related methods are disclosed, including conduits for forming a blood flow path from a chamber of the heart to a vessel or from one vessel to another. In other embodiments, the conduits achieve a coronary artery bypass by allowing blood communication between the left ventricle and the coronary artery or between a proximal portion of the coronary artery and a distal portion of the coronary artery. The conduits may be placed completely through the heart wall or extend only partially therein. Conduits may take on a variety of configurations for allowing the control of blood flow therethrough, including curved or tapered shapes. The conduits may also follow a variety of paths, including direct transmyocardial communication between the left ventricle and the coronary artery, or through the myocardium and into the interpericardial space and then into the coronary artery. The conduits may be implanted through a variety of methods, including minimally invasive techniques. Also disclosed are various preferred embodiments of medical devices and related methods for implanting the conduits including rigid delivery rods for penetrating bodily tissue. The delivery rods may be solid, thus being trocar-like, or hollow to form a self-implantable conduit. Other preferred rod embodiments may have the conduits mounted thereon and take the form of a stylet or the like. The conduits may be on-piece, continuous conduits or made up of a number of plural sections joined together. Disclosures of various anastomosis devices are provided.
