    摘要: A cathode ray display tube has a magnetic shield comprising a mesh (60) of high permeability magnetic material such as mumetal covering the outer surface of its transparent faceplate (14) through which a display from a screen (16) is visible and which together with a magnetic shielding box (70) surrounding the remainder of the tube's envelope (10) inhibits extraneous magnetic fields entering the envelope and affecting the electron beam undesirably. The shielding arrangement is particularly useful with a flat tube having a relatively large area faceplate and using a low-energy scanning electron beam (32). The mesh (60) may be supported by one or more transparent members (66), and may be treated to enhance contrast of the display and also to act as a electromagnetic radiation shield.

    摘要: In a flat cathode ray display tube in which an electron beam (30) is directed firstly in a rear region (24) parallel to a faceplate (14) carrying a phosphor screen (16) and then reversed to travel in the opposite direction in a front region (22) before being deflected towards, and raster scanning over, the screen, a magnetic shield (60) is provided in the rear region to shield the beam from magnetic fields entering through the faceplate over a certain of its path length in that region to reduce raster shift effects caused by such fields. This is especially useful where the electron beam in the front and rear regions is a low-energy beam, rendering it particularly susceptible to influence by magnetic fields, this beam being supplied to an electron multiplier (44) overlying the screen.

    摘要: A colour cathode ray tube has an inner magnetic shield for controlling the magnetic field distribution internal of the tube. The inner shield is formed to have a pair of long side walls and a pair of short side walls provided along an inner wall of a funnel-shaped portion of the tube. Each long side wall has formed therein at least one elongated opening in each of the two regions divided by a centre of the long side wall. The openings may take the form of a triangular-shaped opening or they may be narrow generally rectangular slots.
