摘要： A switchable filter (10, 10') that comprises: a first polarizer (14) having a first polarization direction; a second polarizer (18) having a second polarization direction, which may be the same or different from the first polarization direction; and a first liquid-crystal cell (16) disposed between the first and second polarizers, the liquid crystal cell containing first and second optically-transparent flexible glass layers (40, 42) that are curved and that have a first liquid crystal layer (48) located between them. The switchable filter may be included in an automatic darkening filter (60), said automatic darkening filter further comprising a control circuitry (66) and a sensor (64) that detects incident light and that causes a signal to be sent to the switchable filter via the control circuitry, which signal causes molecular rotation within the liquid crystal layer.

摘要： A heat and steam generator 10 for eye application has a heat and steam generating member 11 making use of oxidative reaction of an oxidizable metal and is adapted to supply steam to eyes and surroundings. The heat and steam generator 10 is adapted to release steam from its side brought into contact with eyes and surroundings for a period of 1 to 30 minutes to maintain the skin surface temperature to which it is applied at 34°C to 43°C over a period of 1 to 120 minutes. The heat and steam generator 10 has a stiffness of 0.01 to 10 N/7 cm-width. The heat and steam generator is effective in improving near triad causing reduction in vision.

摘要： A sleep mask includes a flexible eye cover configured to be worn by a pregnant female and configured to cover and shield the eyes of the wearer from ambient light. A source of light is carried by the flexible eye cover and positioned to emit light onto the eyelids of the wearer when asleep and penetrate the eyelids when closed. A processor is connected to the source of light and configured to activate the light in a manner to decrease endogenous melatonin levels and aid in regulating uterine contractions in the pregnant female.
