    摘要: Example embodiments may facilitate altitude control by a balloon in a balloon network. An example method involves: (a) causing a balloon to operate in a first mode, wherein the balloon comprises an envelope, a high-pressure storage chamber, and a solar power system, (b) while the balloon is operating in the first mode: (i) operating the solar power system to generate power for the balloon and (ii) using at least some of the power generated by the solar power system to move gas from the envelope to the high-pressure storage chamber such that the buoyancy of the balloon decreases; (c) causing the balloon to operate in a second mode; and while the balloon is operating in the second mode, moving gas from the high-pressure storage chamber to the envelope such that the buoyancy of the balloon increases.

    摘要: The invention discloses a lighting/sounding device activated by inflation of a balloon, which comprises a lighting lamp/sounder, a battery, and a housing at least covering the lighting lamp/sounder. The housing comprises an inlet end, an outlet end, and an air channel connecting the inlet end and the outlet end to form a through passage for air flow within the housing. The lighting lamp/sounder is provided within the air channel and has a sealing device for sealing off the air channel. When the balloon is not inflated, the lighting lamp/sounder cannot be activated; after the balloon is inflated, a pressure difference generated between inside and outside the balloon pushes the lighting lamp/sounder towards the outer end of the air channel and seals the air channel; and, when the air channel is sealed up, the electric circuit of the lighting lamp/sounder is closed and the lighting lamp/sounder is activated to operate.

    摘要: A gas barrier material includes an atomic sheet, such as graphene and/or an analog of graphene. The gas barrier material can be arranged as part of a component, such as a container or other vessel, to limit the flow or permeation of gas through the component. Where the component is a container or part of a container, the gas barrier material may be formulated and arranged to limit or prevent gas ingress or egress with respect to the internal volume of the container. The atomic sheet offers improved gas barrier properties compared to traditional polymeric barrier materials and is particularly useful in applications where it is desired to limit permeation of small gas molecules such as helium, such as airships or other lighter than air vehicles.

    摘要: An apparatus for sealing and illuminating a balloon includes a housing for sealing insertion into a neck of a balloon. A flow path within the housing conducts an inflation gas from an inlet to an outlet of the housing, and a flow control system disposed in the flow path allows the inflation gas to flow from the inlet to the outlet. The apparatus includes a light source mounted in conjunction with the housing and a power source disposed within the housing providing power for the light source. A switch mounted in conjunction with the housing is operable to selectively connect the power source to the light source by completing a circuit between power source and the light source. The apparatus also includes a switch activating member annularly disposable around the housing to operate the switch.
