A valve of the invention includes a valve body having an inlet, an outlet, and a flow passage connecting the inlet and outlet, the inlet, the outlet and the flow passage being in general axial alignment within the valve body. A valve seat surrounds the flow passage and a valve closure member is movable towards and away from the valve seat to close and open the valve respectively. The valve closure member is a poppet-type closure member axially mounted to a stem. The stem has a plurality of pistons spaced apart along the length thereof, and the valve body has a plurality of cylinders fixed relative thereto, the pistons each being slidable in a respective cylinder. The valve closure member is movable by varying the pressure in the cylinders. Preferably each of the cylinders has an outlet port through a wall thereof which is exposed when the closure member has moved towards or into a fully open position, pressure within said cylinders dissipating through those outlet ports when the outlet ports are exposed.

The bladder (22) is designed to collapse or deflate rapidly in order to open the valve, enabling the valve to be used in applications such as reverse pulse cleaning of filter elements.

The particle detection means (70) includes a gas flow deflection means (40) having an upstream face (43) and a downstream face (45) and a detector (42, 44) associated exclusively with the downstream face (45). Deflecting the gas flow creates vortices that have little effect on the large particles, but cause the small particles to move close to the detectors on the downstream face. Therefore the downstream detectors (42, 44) are particularly sensitive to light particles. The method improves of small particles and provides accurate particle counts.

The gusset is deformable to allow the sealing body to move between a natural configuration in which the sealing body is on a first side of the flange plane, and a raised configuration in which at least part of the sealing body is on the opposing side of the flange plane, and wherein the at least one convolute portion biases the sealing body towards the natural configuration.

A valve for use in the control of pressurised air from a pressure tank, the pressure tank including a wall in which an outlet port is formed, the wall having an inner surface and an outer surface. The valve comprises a valve body of generally cylindrical configuration having an inner end which in use is located inside the pressure tank and an outer end which in use is located outside of the tank. A flow passage extends through the valve body, the flow passage having an inlet at or adjacent the inner end of the body and an outlet at or adjacent the outer end of the body. A valve seat surrounds the flow passage and a valve closure member is moveable towards and away from the valve seat to close and open the valve respectively. An operating means is provided for moving the valve closure member in order to operate the valve. The valve is characterised in that the valve body has at least one laterally extending mounting formation at or adjacent the inner end thereof, the mounting formation being shaped and dimensioned to enable the inner end and the mounting formation to be introduced into the pressured tank through the outlet port, and when in position, the mounting formation engages with the inner surface of the wall of the tank adjacent the outlet port. The valve includes a mounting collar movable towards the mounting formation so as to engage the outer surface of the wall adjacent the opening and thereby clamp the tank wall between the mounting formation and the mounting collar.
