    摘要: A data handling system and method for managing a data structure in a data store, in which a data store contains sorted data, and a metadata contains status information associated with the sorted data. A job creator is provided comprising at least one job definition queue, the job creator being configured to review the metadata store for status information satisfying a predetermined criteria, wherein on satisfying such a predetermined criteria the job creator subsequently creates a job to be executed, and allocates the job to the at least one job definition queue. A compute resource service module enables job execution of the allocated job so as to modify data structure in the data store. The job execution capability of the data handling system is scalable in dependence upon the number of allocated jobs to be executed.
