An array and row and column line architecture for a display is disclosed. The array consists of a plurality of row and column positions and a plurality of three-color pixel elements. A three-color pixel element can comprise a blue emitter, a pair of red emitters, and a pair of green emitters. Several designs for the three-color pixel element are contemplated. The drive matrix consists of a plurality of row and column drivers to drive the individual emitters. The row drivers drive the red, green and blue emitters in each row. The red and green emitters in each column are driven by a single column driver. However, a single column driver can drive two column lines of blue emitters, a first column line and a second column line of the next nearest neighboring three-color pixel element. Methods of driving a three-color pixel element are also disclosed.

A low or high pressure turbine case (204) is machined on its outside surface to form circumferential notches (302). The notches may coincide with internal locations of seals (210) for the blades (208) or with "hot spots" that have been identified, for example. A stiffener ring (304) may be shrunk with an interference fit into each notch (302) through inducing temperature differentials between the ring and the case. The radially compressive circumferential force exerted by each ring can inhibit the low or high pressure turbine case from expanding as much as it would otherwise. In some applications, a stiffener ring can improve blade tip clearance or counterbalance "hot spots", stiffen the case, improve case cooling, or other benefits, depending upon the particular application.

The pre-subpixel rendered image can also be stored for later transmission for output to the display. Additionally, the pre-subpixel rendered image can be embedded in an image data stream and later extracted and displayed. Furthermore, various techniques have been disclosed to embed and extract the pre-subpixel rendered image.

The present invention provides a method of reflecting ions in a multireflection time of flight mass spectrometer comprising providing an ion mirror having a plurality of electrodes, the ion mirror having a cross section with a first, minor axis (Y) and a second, major axis (X) each perpendicular to a longitudinal axis (Z) of the ion mirror which lies generally in the direction of time of flight separation of the ions in the mirror; guiding ions towards the ion mirror; applying a voltage to the electrodes so as to create an electric field which: (a) causes the mean trajectory of the ions to intersect a plane of symmetry of the ion mirror which contains the longitudinal (Z) and major axes (X) of the mirror; (b) causes the ions to reflect in the ion mirror; and (c) causes the ions to exit the ion mirror in a direction such that the mean trajectory of ions passing through the ion mirror has a component of movement in a direction (Y) perpendicular to and diverging from the said plane of symmetry thereof. Apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed.
