摘要: A device associated with thermal transfer recording apparatus for boosting a pressing force of a thermal head (32) against a platen roller (36). The thermal head (32) is mounted on one end portion of an elongate support plate (34) which is movable in a seesaw motion about a fulcrum (B). Output torque of a rotary solenoid device (38) is transmitted to the support plate (34) by a rotary shaft (40) which is connected to the solenoid device, so that the support plate is moved about the fulcrum to press the head against the platen (36). During recording, an extra drive force is derived from a tension of an ink sheet (50) and imparted via the rotary shaft (40) to the support plate (34) to move the support plate, serving to further intensify the pressing force of the head against the platen.

摘要: A plurality of heat generating resistors (11a, 11b) arranged in line in a thermal head are driven such that two consecutive heat generating resistors (11a, 11b) are combined to cover a single picture element whose desired density is represented by each datum. A head drive circuit is provided so that only a first heat generating resistor (11a) is energized when the desired density is below a predetermined value, and that both the first and second heat generating resistors (11a, 11b) are energized when the desired density is equal to or above the predetermined value. The energizing duration of the second heat generating resistor (11 b) is set to be within the energizing duration of the first heat generating resistor (11a) to reduce printing time, and the end of the energizing duration of the second heat generating resistor (11b) corresponds to the end of energizing duration of the first heat generating resistor (11 a) so as to ensure linearity in tone value.

摘要: A thermal imprint recording apparatus is loaded with a cartridge (30) of recording paper (55) on which a roll (35) of ink film (36) for supplying the ink film and another roll (34) on which the ink film is taken up are carried. The apparatus comprises an arm (96a, 96b) adapted to engage with one of the rolls when the cartridge is loaded on the apparatus, and responsive to the loading, the arm is swung upwards and the roll is lifted from the cartridge. The roll is then carried over a platen roller (93) of the printer and the ink film is drawn out so as to engage with the upper surface of the platen roller. Further, the paper is taken out from the bottom of the cartridge and is transported along a path passing below the platen roller to a predetermined printing station located between the platen roller and the ink film. As a result, the path for feeding the paper on the platen roller becomes short and the circuitous path for supplying the of paper to the platen roller around the rolls of ink film and a thermal head is eliminated and thus the apparatus can be constructed compactly.

摘要: A sheet clamp and release mechanism for use in a printer or the like for releasing a sheet of print paper from a platen includes a clamp radially movably mounted on a rotatable cylindrical platen for holding the sheet against an outer peripheral surface of the platen when the clamp is moved radially inwardly toward the platen, a shifter assembly operatively coupled to the platen for shifting the clamp radially outwardly away from the platen when the sheet is to be released from the platen, and guide memebrs disposed adjacent to the outer peripheral surface of the platen for releasing the sheet end from the clamp and platen in response to rotation of the platen. The clamp is composed of a plurality of radially movable displacing members spaced along the platen and a plurality of pressers joined to the displacing members for pressing the sheet down against the platen. The guide membes are disposed in circumferential registry with respective slots defined in the displacing members for passing through the slots, respectively, to engage the sheet end to remove the same from the clamp upon rotation of the platen.
