A combination machine (3) for developing and printing photographic material continously and automatically, composed of modules (4, 5, 6, 7) allowing easy mutual assembly and separation. The basic structure of such a machine comprises a module (4) for printing from film onto paper, surmounting a print developing module (5), this in turn positioned alongside a module (6) housing devices by which prints emerging from the developing module (5) are dried, as well as containers holding the liquids used to regenerate and replenish the various chemical treatment baths. An additional module (7) for developing film can be positioned on top of the drier module (6), whilst the print module (4) is also hinged at the bottom along one side to the outer edge of the module (5) beneath in such a way as to tilt clear and allow easy access to the inside of the machine (3) for the purposes of cleaning and servicing.

The hybrid colour photography printing system utilizes a photographic printing machine of the type comprising an optical projection system (GO) and an electronic reproduction system (GE) installed together in a single unit, designed to generate respective images (FO, FE) for transfer to a sheet of light-sensitive paper (7); following exposure, the light-sensitive paper (7) is treated chemically and dried to produce a colour print. In the hybrid system, images (FO) of optical origin and images (FE) of electronic origin are projected onto a single sheet of light-sensitive paper (7), and with a simple modification to the operation of the optical projection system (GO) consisting in the interposition of a mask (81 or 82) with opaque areas (81a, 81b or 82a, 82b) of given shape and dimensions, placed over the film (2) bearing the image (FO) or over the sheet of light-sensitive paper (7), it becomes possible to leave selected areas (71, 72) of the paper unexposed; these same areas will receive corresponding images (FE) reproduced with the electronic system (GE), thereby completing the composition of the hybrid image that appears ultimately in the photograph.

Such joining, in particular, is carried out directly on the magazine (21) which rests on a suitable seat of the flat table (32). Each so prepared magazine is inserted in the loading station (23) of the film developing machine, where the film is fully unrolled therefrom and, in the case of film of size 135, also cut at its terminal end. The particular shape of the magazine (21) and of the loading station (23) of the film developing machine are described, which permit the treatment of film of each size by avoiding any possible slipping of the films out of the associated magazine (21).

Device for processing photographic material comprising a plurality of treating baths (1-9) containing developing , bleaching , fixing and stabilizing solutions. During the working operations, the treating baths are successively crossed by the photographic material to be treated. The refilling of the treating baths is obtained by means of pumps (41-47) and pipes (31-37) which draw the treating solutions from each restoring container (11-13) as well as the treating water from a water-reservoir (24). A driving device (50) of the refilling pumps cooperates with the level sensors (S1-S6) of the restoring containers in order to stop the refilling process and to actuate an auxiliary pump (71-73) as soon as one of the restoring containers is empty. The auxiliary pump (71-73) removes the residual treating solutions from the restoring containers through an additional pipe (61-63) connected with each restoring container (11-13). The device according to the invention facilitates the maintenance operations and makes simple and economical the disposal of the restoring containers
